A Legacy of Care

Betty Rodgers
February 11, 1919-February 8, 2010

Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego is proud to honor the life and legacy of Betty Rodgers. A volunteer at Rady Children’s for more than 30 years, Betty made an immeasurable difference in the lives of patients, families and staff. In 1995, Betty was thrilled to receive the President's Award for Exceptional Volunteer Service.

"I was raised to be a volunteer,” she said. “Volunteering becomes contagious, and it makes you feel good."

Upon her retirement, Betty had accumulated 17,568 volunteer hours – still a record at the Hospital.

Betty Rodgers exemplified everything Rady Children’s values in a volunteer: enthusiasm, dedication and love for children. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, and left behind a legacy of caring and compassion.
